Apply now for the annual Madison Chautauqua Festival of Arts & Crafts on Sept. 28-29, 2024!

The Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art welcomes artisans from across the nation and features artwork that is handmade and individually designed by the artist. Come and find your passion among paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, weaving, folk art, jewelry, fiber, wood, baskets, clay, glass, paper, leather and wearable art.

 

Who May Apply

Eligible categories include: painting (2D artists may sell prints but must include originals, as well), drawing, photography, sculpture, weaving, folk art, jewelry, fiber, wood, baskets, clay, glass, paper and leather. The number of artists in each category is limited to protect the integrity of the show. (Individual consideration of a media not listed may be given upon request.)

Only work of the quality and type illustrated in submitted digital prints may be exhibited. All work must be handmade and individually designed by the artist. Multiples of the same general design must be signed by the artist. Nudes in product is prohibited. Items made from kitwork or patterns and items manufactured or mass-produced are not allowed. The Chautauqua committee reserves the right to remove unsuitable works at the time of the festival.

 

Application Process

 Apply early and be a part of the early jury process in by March 1st. 

Final jury process will follow the Zapplication deadline on June 30th.
Incomplete applications will not be juried.


 

Application Fees

Jury fee $25. Balance due upon acceptance.

All booth spaces are outdoor.
Booth spaces are 10’ x 15’ and fee is $350
Booth spaces are for artists and craftsmen exhibiting their own work. (Artists making same item with partner may share a booth.)
Large booths of 10’ x 20’ available for $400
Corner space available for additional $50
Two open sided booth available for additional $50
Half Corner booth available for additional $25

 

Booth Display Space

On the last full weekend of September each year, Madison’s National Landmark Historic District welcomes thousands of visitors during the two-day Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art. Come and experience Southern Indiana’s premier outdoor juried arts & crafts festival featuring approximately 200 exhibitors. This festival is free to the public and designed for the whole family to enjoy.

 

In addition to the fine artists and craftsmen showcasing their handmade work, the festival features continuous live entertainment, a riverfront food fest, kid’s activities, and an entertainment garden with local craft beer and wine available. For your convenience, parking and continuous shuttle service are available at Madison Consolidated High School on State Road 62 (Clifty Drive).

 

Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art is a non-profit organization operating under the umbrella of Visit Madison, Inc. For the last 50 years, a committee of volunteers and coordinators have worked hard to ensure this festival has something for everyone. Along with them, hundreds of volunteers, City of Madison employees and the Mayor of Madison work together to make the entire Chautauqua weekend a success.

 

 

Important! Please Note!

  • Artisans, not a representative, must exhibit and be present with their work during the complete show from 10am through 5pm on both days of the festival on the last weekend of September

  • No electricity is supplied. NO GENERATORS. Battery operated lights only.

  • No single day entries will be accepted

  • If for any reason the artist cannot attend the show after being accepted, the artist must notify the Madison Chautauqua in writing or by phone before the show opens if artist wishes to be invited back.

  • There is no rain site or date. The show will open, rain or shine. (Bring sufficient protections.)

  • Artists must cover displays and products overnight.

  • Any person who causes any disruption to a volunteer or committee member will be asked to leave and will not be invited back.

  • Madison Chautauqua is publicized and advertised with television, magazines, brochures, posters, radio and regional newspapers.

  • On-site jury during the event by panel and photographers is required for re-entry. If we may use photo/video of your product in promoting the show, check box on application.
